COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND SHARING

2018 Maryland Reentry Practitioners Symposium

We were excited to introduce the Navigating Barriers to Reentry resource at the 2018 Maryland Reentry Practitioners Symposium.

Ms. Oakley, our event coordinator, Ms. Trettien, presenter, and Ms. Townsend, presenter.

We presented to over 40 case managers, reentry practitioners, employment readiness specialists, Offender Workforce Development Specialists, and attorneys.  It was an exciting day of collaboration and networking.

Akila Cares Presentation

Ms. Parker presented the Navigating Barriers to Reentry resource with case managers at Akila Cares, an organization that works with women with mental health issues who are experiencing transitions.  We were inspired by the dedication of this organization and continue to assist them.

People Encouraging People Share

Mr. Curtis Moore, Program Ambassador, shared the Navigating Barriers

Reentry resource with of PEP – People Encouraging People – and

Ms. Winnie, their program instructor.

Masks for the Masses

During the Coronavirus shut downs, we put together a small crew of people who sewed masks for organizations, residences, and community members.

Ms. Constance Parker sewing masks for the Liberty Heights Residences and the community.  When she heard that we needed help sewing masks, she got out her sewing machine and got to work!  She worked tirelessly to make masks that were distributed throughout the community and state. We are so grateful to her efforts and contributions.  She is truly a “community angel.”

Ms. Althea Parker, Program Manager for Navigating Barriers to Reentry, delivering masks to F.A.C.E. – Freedom Advocates Celebrating Ex-Offenders  –   a non-profit supportive housing organization serving Baltimore.

F.A.C.E. Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Marlo Hargrove, Sr., accepts masks made by Navigating Barriers to Reentry in Maryland.  We are grateful for the many services and supports F.A.C.E. offers people returning to their communities.

Hats for the Homeless

We put together a make and do crew to create crocheted hats for

the homeless.  We hope they provided not only warmth, but the knowledge that people care.

If you would like to help with this project, we would be happy to send

you a simple crochet pattern.

Cuddle Blankets for Children with an Incarcerated Parent

We made cuddle blankets for children with incarcerated parents.

Families and children serve a sentence with their loved

ones who are serving time – through no fault of their

own.  We decided to make soft and comforting cuddle

blankets for children who have an incarcerated parent.

They were well-received and the pictures we received made

our hearts full.  Here are just a few.
