WHAT IS TRANSITIONAL HOUSING?
Transitional housing provides temporary housing for the certain segments of the homeless population, including working homeless making insufficient wages who have trouble affording long-term housing.
It is set up to help transition their residents into permanent, affordable housing and stable living situations.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR TRANSITIONAL HOUSING?
The eligibility requirements for transitional housing depends upon many factors. Each transitional house is usually run by an organization who has a specific mission. Some are short-term emergency shelters and others are programs that require participants to take part in activities that will lead to self-sufficiency and independence. Many programs are geared toward people recovering from drug addiction, some for homeless, and others for people who are homeless due to previous incarceration.
